From 8 to 10 April 2026, Elodie Blanchard from the MangMap team will take part in the User Consultation Meeting on Coastal Blue Carbon, organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and its partners at the ESRIN centre in Frascati, Italy.

This three-day event will bring together representatives from public institutions, research organisations, NGOs and international initiatives involved in the management of coastal blue carbon ecosystems — mangroves, seagrass meadows and salt marshes.

The ESA Coastal Blue Carbon project aims to develop satellite-based products to support the protection and restoration of these ecosystems, combining Earth Observation data (Copernicus and Sentinel missions) with in-situ measurements. The meeting will be an opportunity to share results, explore the tools developed — including a geoportal for habitat and carbon stock mapping — and collectively define priorities for operational coastal blue carbon monitoring.
